Aloha!

Wow, it's been forever since I wrote anything on this blog. A very big 'sorry' goes out to my loyal 3 readers. The biggest reason I've been away is because I've really gotten into the whole Twitter thing, and that takes up a lot of my random thoughts and ideas now. I'll try my best to write a bit on here too, since my good friends are keeping a baby-blog....but no promises.

Quick update: I got a job shortly after my last post, and it's already getting on my nerves. Christmas went smoothly this year; it was the first time I hosted a big family event at my condo. Oh, and just got back from a 12 day trip to Hawai'i last week!

How about another "Favorite Song This Minute"? Yah? Ok here it is:

"January Hymn" by the Decemberists is rocking my socks this week. Hope you like it too!

Still Unemployed...

...but I've applied for a bunch of jobs, just waiting out the end dates and hopefully I'll get contacted.

I'm still without internet at home, but they're coming next Monday to hook me up, finally, so I won't have to spend so much time at Starbucks anymore! On the plus side, most of the employees know me quite well now and will occasionally give me freebies! :P

I've just re-discovered "Blue Beard" by the amazing Band of Horses, and await IM-patiently for them to come to Edmonton to play. But I would be a liar if I didn't say my new Favorite Song This Moment was "F**k You" by Cee Lo Green. It's just so catchy, and BOTH videos on Youtube are great.

Home from the Adventure!

Hello all, from my neighbourhood Starbucks! (I still don't have internet at my house...)

Well I'm back from my trip and just as I feared, I barely used my blogger. :( Sorry about that! I had a blast, and have brought entirely too many stories and photos back with me. (Also, t-shirts, sunglasses and watches...)

Instead of frantically trying to backdate all my stories and travel happenings, I think I'll just say "screw it" and go back to my normal life blog that I used to run. Sound good? I thought so too!

Anyways, here's my first "Favorite Song This Moment" since I've been home:

Mumford and Sons "The Cave". Awesome.

Favorite Song This Moment...

...sorry it's been awhile for a post. I've been in Asia, take it easy on me! :P

Check out Band of Horses new CD; it's great! I'm loving Blue Beard this moment however.

One More Sleep

Well, it's all come down to this. I've packed, unpacked and re-packed. I've loaded up my iPhone with songs and TV shows. I've laminated my fake student ID (for discounts of course). Now all that's left to do is grab that one last morning Starbucks from the International departures lounge and board my plane. I always feel like I'm forgetting something on the last day before I leave on a trip, but this time the feeling is really hard to shrug off. I think it's because of all the people that I'm leaving behind. They are certainly not forgotten, but definitely will be missed.

So in order to lighten the mood a bit, here's something I haven't done in a while:

My favorite song this moment is Holiday by Vampire Weekend. Fitting, no? :P

Favorite Song This Minute...

I love this time of year. I love the decorations and the crowded malls and smells of fresh baked goodies everywhere I go. I love buying presents and watching the classic Christmas movies and getting together with old friends and family. I even love the ridiculously cold weather!

But maybe my favorite thing about the Christmas is the music. Why is it that Christmas has spawned countless songs and carols that are updated and remastered every year while I can count on one hand the number of songs written for other holidays? I think it's because deep down everybody loves the feeling you get when you hear one of those timeless classics. Every year I put on one of my Christmas mix CD's while I put up the Christmas Tree and the decorations, and let the memories of Christmases long long ago come flooding back.

This year, with the stresses that come with growing up and getting older mixed in with the typical holiday hustle, those warm feelings of community and family were never more welcomed. I've never been very good at choosing my favorite Christmas song (much like picking a favorite movie) but the song that has hit another level with me this year has to be "2000 Miles" by Coldplay. Kinda makes me want to curl up under a blanket by the fire with someone special.

In case I don't get the chance to say it before the big day,

Merry Christmas Everyone!

My Favorite Song This Minute...

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife 1 & 2. It's an oldie, but I just can't seem to stop listening to it. (Or any of the other songs on the CD for that matter!)

My Favorite Song This Minute...

...is Fireflies by the band Owl City; if only the local radio station would play it more often! Anyways, I think you should check it out.
