Wow, it's been forever since I wrote anything on this blog. A very big 'sorry' goes out to my loyal 3 readers. The biggest reason I've been away is because I've really gotten into the whole Twitter thing, and that takes up a lot of my random thoughts and ideas now. I'll try my best to write a bit on here too, since my good friends are keeping a baby-blog....but no promises.
Quick update: I got a job shortly after my last post, and it's already getting on my nerves. Christmas went smoothly this year; it was the first time I hosted a big family event at my condo. Oh, and just got back from a 12 day trip to Hawai'i last week!
How about another "Favorite Song This Minute"? Yah? Ok here it is:
"January Hymn" by the Decemberists is rocking my socks this week. Hope you like it too!

Still Unemployed...
...but I've applied for a bunch of jobs, just waiting out the end dates and hopefully I'll get contacted.
I'm still without internet at home, but they're coming next Monday to hook me up, finally, so I won't have to spend so much time at Starbucks anymore! On the plus side, most of the employees know me quite well now and will occasionally give me freebies! :P
I've just re-discovered "Blue Beard" by the amazing Band of Horses, and await IM-patiently for them to come to Edmonton to play. But I would be a liar if I didn't say my new Favorite Song This Moment was "F**k You" by Cee Lo Green. It's just so catchy, and BOTH videos on Youtube are great.

Home from the Adventure!
Hello all, from my neighbourhood Starbucks! (I still don't have internet at my house...)
Well I'm back from my trip and just as I feared, I barely used my blogger. :( Sorry about that! I had a blast, and have brought entirely too many stories and photos back with me. (Also, t-shirts, sunglasses and watches...)
Instead of frantically trying to backdate all my stories and travel happenings, I think I'll just say "screw it" and go back to my normal life blog that I used to run. Sound good? I thought so too!
Anyways, here's my first "Favorite Song This Moment" since I've been home:
Mumford and Sons "The Cave". Awesome.

Phnominal Phnom Penh?
Mmmnot so much. It's pretty dirty and poor here, and there are plenty of beggars and rip-off schemes too. I visited the killing fields and the school-turned-prison used by the Khmers during the genocide of the 1970's. Pretty heavy stuff to be tourist stops, but they certainly fit with this city's image; lots of work to be done to compete with the Ha Long Bays and Sapas of the world! Hopefully the majesty of Angkor Wat up North can even out my feelings on Cambodia.

Favorite Song This Moment...

Salam from Gili Trawangan in Indonesia!
Just thought I should post a quick note to let you all know where I am...paradise! Turquoise water, soft white sand and the best scenery you could ask for all around me. Sadly, I'm leaving tomorrow on a turbo-ferry back to Bali where I'll need to find a taxi to take me to the island of Java. From there, it's ancient temples, volcanoes and sea turtles hopefully!

Hello from South of the Equator!
Arrived safely in Bali, paid my 25$ US for a fancy new visa, and cleared the numerous bomb checks on the way to the hotel. The Hard Rock Hotel of course... My mission to hit every cafe is going well! (So far, hit two in Tokyo, Beijing and now this one.)

From the Pearl of the Orient
Well I'm finally out from underneath the red curtain of China's media blockade, and finally I can blog, tweet and Facestalk again!
Arrived in Hong Kong last night and was greeted by cars driving on the left, doubledecker busses and English signage everywhere! Went for a swim today in my rooftop pool overlooking the harbour; sometimes it pays to be travelling with your parents. :P

One More Sleep
Well, it's all come down to this. I've packed, unpacked and re-packed. I've loaded up my iPhone with songs and TV shows. I've laminated my fake student ID (for discounts of course). Now all that's left to do is grab that one last morning Starbucks from the International departures lounge and board my plane. I always feel like I'm forgetting something on the last day before I leave on a trip, but this time the feeling is really hard to shrug off. I think it's because of all the people that I'm leaving behind. They are certainly not forgotten, but definitely will be missed.
So in order to lighten the mood a bit, here's something I haven't done in a while:
My favorite song this moment is Holiday by Vampire Weekend. Fitting, no? :P

Today is my last day at work!
I spent the morning paying the last of the bills here on my desk, and the afternoon signing out at like 15 different spots on base and handing in my two credit cards and various IDs. And right now, after typing that out, I am instantly nervous again.
